The Norwegian Rail Administration conducted an assessment study to investigate the possibility of building a high speed railroad network in Norway, connecting the largest cities and also connecting to Sweden and Europe.

SNC-Lavalin scope of work was within technical and safety.

Project Activities

SNC-Lavalin worked together with Pöyry in some of the following areas:
  • Overall specifications high speed trains
  • Benchmarking high speed trains
  • Railway engineering
  • Safety
  • Standards and legislation
  • Climatic aspects, and other aspects of building infrastructure in Norway


The final report presents different alternative solutions for alignment, speed, infrastructure and economic aspects and was handed over to the Norwegian Rail Administration in the beginning of 2012.

SNC-Lavalin's support has allowed the Norwegian Rail Administration to make a better decision regarding high speed rail.
