The SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit team in the UK has been shortlisted in two categories at the forthcoming Railway Industry Innovation Awards.
Founded in 1998, the Railway Industry Innovation Awards are one of the longest-standing rail industry events. The awards celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals who push the railway sector forward by developing innovative ideas.
At the 2017 ceremony, SNC-Lavalin’s Signal Sighting Form Tool (SSiFT v3) is up for the ‘Small Scale Project’ award. SSiFT v3 was developed by the SNC-Lavalin Digital Services team for Network Rail to streamline signal and sign sighting, resulting in significant time and cost savings.
SNC-Lavalin has also been shortlisted alongside partner companies in the ‘Engineering and Safety’ category. The nomination recognises the introduction of a new design of wheel slide protection to the UK. The project team was made up of lead organisation Porterbrook, with Knorr Bremse Rail Services, Loram, Abellio East Anglia and SNC-Lavalin.
The winners of the Railway Industry Innovation Awards will be announced on Friday 23rd June 2017 at the Paddington Hilton in London. Roger Ford, Industry and technology editor of Modern Railways magazine; and Mark Carne, Chief Executive of Network Rail, have been confirmed as speakers at the event.
