6th May 2016
Richard George, Group Managing Director of SNC-Lavalin Rail & Transit Engineering, will be presenting at the Rail Exec Networking Luncheon on Thursday 19th May at The Grand Hotel, Leicester.
The Rail Exec Club meets three times a year, providing an opportunity for members to network and hear the latest industry news. The theme of the next event is High Speed 2 (HS2). HS2 will be the UK’s second high speed passenger rail link, in the first instance joining London and Birmingham.
Richard previously gave his input into the HS1 rail project when working for Eurostar. He was invited to speak at the Rail Exec Club, following his appointment to the independent Design Panel for HS2. The Design Panel acts as the project’s impartial advisor and helps it to deliver on its key principles.
At the Rail Exec Luncheon, Richard will reflect upon the infrastructure challenges posed by major rail and transit projects, such as HS2. He will discuss the importance of High Speed lines and Urban Transit schemes being thought about together, rather than as separate entities.
SNC-Lavalin has been appointed ‘Rolling Stock and Depots - Design and Technical Advisor’ for HS2, working in partnership with Arup, consequently Richard will not provide comment on rolling stock matters.
