Interfleet, SNC-Lavalin’s international rail consultancy, continues to evolve and expand in Central Europe.

The company recently developed their service offering in the region, with the addition of a new Transport Advisory team, led by Alexander Kirfel. Alexander’s team provides strategic consultancy within Interfleet’s global transport advisory network, dedicated to addressing the transport sector’s most challenging problems worldwide.

The team’s first major project in Germany has been the ‘Network 1 - Stuttgart network’ passenger survey, covering 11 lines with a length of more than 730 kilometres in total. This network has an annual volume of around 10.5 million train-kilometres.

Interfleet’s Regional Director for Central Europe, Stefan Stiefel, comments: “‘Network 1 - Stuttgart network’ is the largest survey of its kind that has been conducted recently. ITA was given a challenging timescale of 22 weeks to complete the work. This deadline was successfully achieved, firmly establishing our team within the marketplace.

“The project also included rapid on-the-job familiarisation for new Interfleet Transport Advisory recruits and members of the Rolling Stock and Operations, Maintenance and ECM teams. This training added substantially to Interfleet’s capabilities in Germany.”

With Interfleet’s headcount increasing over the past year, the business was rapidly outgrowing its base in Aachen. The site opened in September 2014, but was already reaching full capacity thanks to the company’s continued success.

To give the growing teams the breathing room they needed, Interfleet secured more spacious offices within the existing building. The new headquarters on the second floor opened in August 2015 and offers double the space. Following the move, the mailing address and contact telephone numbers remain the same:
