SNC-Lavalin’s international rail consultancy, Interfleet, has been appointed to assist in the design and development of the Crossrail 2 project, a multi- billion pound project in the UK.

Transport for London (TFL) announced the appointments of four consultancies to work on the project. ARCADIS Hyder leads a consultancy team to deliver ‘Work Package 1’, further developing the engineering concept at the start of this prestigious major London project. Interfleet is an important part of the team and will work with ARCADIS Hyder to deliver engineering and technical aspects of the project. The appointed consultancies will work with TFL to help build the case for Crossrail 2 and prepare more detailed proposals for public consultation later in the summer.

Richard George, Group Managing Director at Interfleet and Regional Manager for
SNC-Lavalin,
said: “This is an exciting milestone for the Major Projects Initiative here in Interfleet, as a growing team we have ambitious plans to deliver and this win is great news for those involved and the wider business. Interfleet will work with ARCADIS Hyder, and other partners, to deliver the project over the next five months, a great start for 2015.”

Crossrail 2 is a project being developed jointly by TfL and Network Rail. The service will link key growth areas in south-west and north east London and serve destinations in Surrey and Hertfordshire using the existing National Rail network. Initial proposals have been consulted on publicly and the Department for Transport is currently consulting on safeguarding along the route. The project should add 10% to the capital’s rail capacity, transporting up to 90,000 people in the morning peak.
