Interfleet’s Stephen Head has been elected as the new Chair of the Young Rail Professionals (YRP).

Each year the YRP elects four officer positions of Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Chair and Chair. Stephen succeeds Adam Stead who stepped down after one year as Chairman and will continue to support the organisation at a project level.

An Engineer within Interfleet’s Rail Control Systems (RCS) team, Stephen has been involved with the YRP since 2012, initially as an ambassador promoting rail in schools and universities. Since then he has joined the YRP committee and led the development of a new strategy to strengthen the organisation’s delivery capability, with a plan for growth and clear objectives.

Stephen took charge of YRP’s Ambassadors programme in September 2013 and has brought industry promotion to the national agenda, with a team of 150 ambassadors and a dedicated subcommittee who help to arrange engagements events across the UK.

Matt Phillips, UK Director - Rail Control Systems at Interfleet said, “This is a great achievement for Stephen and reinforces our commitment as a company to developing the next generation of rail professionals. He has already made a huge contribution to growing the YRP’s reputation and presence within our industry and I’m in no doubt he will continue to lead the organisation to success.”

The YRP brings together young people from across the UK railway industry, providing networking and professional development opportunities to enhance and inspire members:
