How long have you been at SNC-Lavalin?
Where did you study?
University of Leeds.
What course did you do?
How have you progressed within the company?
I spent two years on the graduate scheme followed by eight years with the Mechanical Vehicle Structures team. I became a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE, have been a Proposals Manager working in the Bid team and am now Section Head for the Rolling Stock Projects team.
How did the graduate scheme help in getting you to your current position?
The graduate scheme meant I saw all the different departments, which has proved very useful in understanding the business as a whole. I could be writing a bid on behalf of any department, so it’s important I know how to market all of our capabilities.
What’s been your most exciting opportunity yet?
I wrote the multi-million pound Caledonian Sleepers bid which has brought lots of work into the company.
What makes it a great place to work?
The people. This is a friendly and family orientated company with plenty of opportunities to socialise with colleagues.
